Are you looking for fun ways to explore the city? Hyde Observatory is a hidden gem that is one of my personal favorites. My mom and I have always shared a love for astronomy, and I remember going to Hyde when Saturn was in view. It looked like someone put a sticker on the other end of the telescope, that’s how clear you could see the planet with its rings! Whether you’re looking for date night ideas or places to unwind with friends and family, scroll down to learn more about activities near you!
For less than $30 a person you can choose from a variety of themed escape room quests! Each session typically lasts 60 minutes, so you’ve got to be quick to solve the mystery and escape the room in time. You can request a private room or tag along with another group and meet new people!

Holmes Lake Recreation Area is the perfect space for water activities and much more! There are walking trails around the lake as well as a public golf course. Located in Holmes Park, on the south side of Holmes Lake, is the Hyde Memorial Observatory (I highly recommend checking this out). Volunteers will help you navigate the night sky using three powerful telescopes. They also offer programs on space exploration and astronomy. Oh yeah, and everything is FREE!
